Now that that's out of the way.
What do you guys think?
It's the first time I did a big fat coloring thing with my tablet. I honestly think I did a pretty fantastic job on it, but I like critiques and opinions too.
Here's a little backstory behind it:In the middle of the night, Hatter woke up in a cold sweat. Chest tight with fear, his eyes darted around the room. He had just recently woke up from on of his night terrors. Again. This one was worse than normal, though. He almost died in this one. Normally it was just a bunch of running and shadows, but this one...it felt so REAL. Hatter felt like he was about to legit piss himself right there and then. He had to get out of that room. It was too dark, too...quiet. Carefully and gingerly, he moved to the edge of the bed and silently hopped onto the floor. The floor gave a slight groan in protest and Hatter immediately froze in place. Good. She didn't wake up. Silently sighing in relief, he quietly shut the door, tip-toed out to the living room, and sat on the couch. The Irish teenager placed a hand over his chest and tried to slow his quick breathing and his racing heart. He managed to after a few minutes, but quickly realized that his shirt was starting to feel damp. He blushed when he realized that it was from his own nervous sweat. So he did what any person would do: he took off his shirt and tossed aside. Ugh, finally. That thing was starting to stink.
Danika's eyes fluttered open when she heard a squeak coming from Hatter's room. When everything was silent for a few more seconds, she dismissed the noise. It's probably just a mouse, she thought. About to close her eyes again, she heard another noise. This time it sounded like quiet footsteps. Sitting up, Danika listened harder. Yeah, it was Hatter. She'd recognize those nervous footsteps anywhere. Danika hopped out of bed, trying hard not to make any noise. She peeked out of her bedroom doorway and looked out into the living room. She saw Hatter sitting on the couch, looking scared and...shiny?
Oh, Danika thought, he must of been sweating. The poor thing. Danika knocked on the door-frame.
Hatter shot his head in the direction of the noise, eyes wide with slight fear. He immediately relaxed when it was only Danika. He was afraid that it was one of the creatures in his nightmares. Danika turned on their near by crappy lamp, and proceeded to sit next to him.
"Hey," she said. "You alright?" Hatter stayed silent, but shook his head back-and-forth. Danika frowned, then patted his hand. Hatter of course cringed from the contact, but let her proceed. "You know you can talk about it, right? You can tell me."
Hatter continued to stay silent for a few minutes. Danika was growing worried, then she heard what she thought was crying. Looking closer, she realized that Hatter was quietly sobbing to himself, tears flowing down his cheeks. Danika felt her heart grow tight with sympathy. She wanted to comfort him, to help him, but she didn't know how without attempting to freak him out. Just as she was about to go hug him, she was greeted with a surprise hug from Hatter. Hatter continued to cry into her nightgown, shoulders rising and falling with each sob. Danika sat there for a few seconds. Did Hatter just...hug her? On his own? He hated it when others made physical contact with him, so she never expected him to even shake hands with someone, let alone hug them. But, Danika was an exception. Around her, Hatter felt so...safe. Warm. Happy. It was like nothing would ever make him feel scared or upset when she was around. He himself was surprised at the gesture, but he needed this. He needed to cry, to touch, to let his mind go for a few minutes.
Hatter felt arms wrap around him. He didn't cringe. He knew who's hands those were. There was no reason to panic. Hatter slowly, very slowly, started to relax and his sobs grew more quiet as the night went on. Danika stayed with him the entire night, stroking his bright shock of red hair and humming a familiar lullaby. Hatter soon feel into a deep, dreamless sleep, followed by Danika a little while later. For the rest of the night the two teenagers slept on the couch, knowing in their minds that they're blessed to know each other. To know that they will always be together. Forever.
Ugh, the last few sentences are so cheesy. That's what I get for not thinking of a good ending...thing. |D
And this took, like, almost a month to finish. Mainly because I procrastinated a little....OK OK, a lot.
But it still looks amazing to me. This is actually the first time I tried shading hair like this to make it look realistic. That was all because of my friend's pestering and motherly nagging. But she means well. It's looks fantastic, so yay for me!
So, yeah. Critique me on the COLORING. Not the actual DRAWING. I think she (my best friend, one of many) did a good job on the outlining. I mean it's not, like, professional or anything (hell, I don't even think I'm a pro yet), but it's still a really good job.
Enjoy~! And give me good critiques!
Thank you and good night...day....bluh, whatever.
