Bio: Kashi was born from Zhinü and Niulang, a weaver maid and a cowherd who fell in love with one another and who were also powerful deities of the stars. The Heavenly Empress declared their love was forbidden, though, so she banished them to the opposite sides of the Silver River (aka the Milky Way). On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, though, a flock of magpies would form a bridge so that the lovers could reunite once more. During one of these nights, the couple made love to each other, and nine months later, Kashi was born, although at the time her given name was Sū Xiùyuè.
Zhinü tried to keep Kashi a secret from the Heavenly Empress for as long as she could, but the Heavenly Empress soon found out about the forbidden couple's child and sentenced the couple to death. The Heavenly Empress, before banishing the infant Kashi to the mortal realm, cursed her with a Gasglow grin, never to be able to speak for the rest of her natural life, and branded her with the Chinese character 口, which means "mouth" or "talk", on both of her hands, right where her thumb joins with the rest of her hand, as a kind of cruel irony of her curse. After Kashi was cursed, the Heavenly Empress banished her to Earth to perish, never to return to the spirit realm.
Kashi did die from exposure as an infant, but she was revived by an unknown mythical figure in white who pitied her, and turned into a Jiangshi. She was later found by the owner of a local orphanage and was taken in to said orphanage, where she spent the majority of her life before going on her own and living in the middle of the forest. She figured out her powers at a very early age and soon grew skilled with them.
She doesn't remember much from when she was a baby, but whenever she looks at the branded character on her hands, she's reminded of her curse and her parents and she can't help but feel sad about it.

Fun Facts

- "Sū" is Kashi's last name while "Xiùyuè" is her birth name. Kashi is her English name; since she knew that nobody would be able to pronounce her name, she found the first English word that she could find - which happened to be a Kashi brand granola bar wrapper - and basically said "call me this".

- Kashi identifies as agender, which means she doesn't identify herself as part of the gender binary. She uses she/her/herself pronouns because she feels the most comfortable with them. This is also because in the Mandarin/Chinese language, he/she/it all share the same character and she never knew that there was a difference concerning pronouns until she came to America.

- 口, the marking on Kashi's hands, is the Chinese character for "mouth" or "talk", which is suppose to be a morbidly ironic of her curse.

- She likes healthy human blood the best. (She says it tastes the sweetest.)

- Her hazel eyes make her seem older than she looks. People say that her soul is older than her body.

- She can't burn in the sun like an American vampire; it just irritates her skin and gives her a bad rash.

- Kashi's deathly allergic to peaches and vinegar.

- She despises roosters.

- Kashi wears that giant cover over her face because she doesn't want to reveal her Gasglow grin.

- Her pet bat, Zihu, was her very first friend and her first pet. Zihu also has a bad habit of biting new people he meets.

- She also has a pet crow named Xing Yun that she obtained shortly after she obtained Zihu.

- Her hat, her scarf, and her coat are three of her most prized possessions, and she won't go anywhere without them (except when she's hunting).

- No one has ever seen Kashi without her hat or scarf on.

- When she feeds, she'll leave the bones and hair aside. She can't swallow those as well as flesh.

- When you go into her house, you will notice that there aren't any mirrors anywhere. That's because Jiangshis are afraid of their own reflection.

- The reason why she doesn't have the stiff limbs and the animal-like features of a regular Jiangshi is because the figure that revived her gave her most of the qualities a regular human would have.
